WHO IS BALD IS BEAUTIFUL PHOTOGRAPHY?

Well, it's me of course! Hi, I'm Scott, just an ordinary guy who loves life and all the little nuances that it brings! Simply put, I'm a father to a wonderful son, a husband to a beautiful wife, and an amateur photographer who enjoys looking at the world through a piece of glass! I took up photography a couple of years ago, after having gastric bypass surgery. Since 12/07, I have lost 180 pounds, but found a real passion for documenting life with my camera. I could say that the big names out there have inspired me, and they have, But my true inspiration comes from the people I meet everyday who share the same thoughts and zeal I have for photography. We are truly blessed with some really great photographers around Nashville. So, what are you waiting for.... ...grab a camera, snap some pics, and enjoy life to the fullest!

Dogs!

I did a real cool photo shoot the other day. Kind of an impromptu thing at my father-in-laws house. Basically I was showing off my new camera and all it could do, and we ended up taking pics of his dogs!

I think they turned out pretty good! Anyway, here they are!

The shepherd was kinda skittish! Every time I grabbed the camera, she ran like she was running from the dog catcher!

I am still changing!

I realized the other day how and when this blog got started. My first post was on changing, (unreal that this was written back in August of '07). Changing my lifestyle, changing my weight and changes in general. WOW, to borrow an old cigarette commercial..."You've come a long way baby!" Even the blog has changed. I very rarely write about weight loss anymore! Hey, I said rarely, not never!

The picture above was taken yesterday on Easter Sunday, and I am in the first suit I have owned in 13 years!

I am at 190 pounds, and have been at that mark for about 6 months now. Things fluctuate, depending on the days of the week. During the week, I'm good! I mean really good. The structure of work keeps my eating very routine. So my weight stays right where it needs to be. On weekends, that's a different story. I eat junk! There is no structure, so things get a little out of whack! But's that's OK! I feel that's what keeps me honest and truthful! Let's face it kids...Papa Scott is not perfect! There, I've said it, I'm not perfect!

Something I am proud of though, is my wife! I mean, look at the pictures. They speak volumes on what she has done! She gets a little frustrated now and then, but don't we all. To look at where she and I have come from, to what we are now is truly amazing!

Basically guys, God is good! Without the loving hand of our Father to guide us, where would we be? We have our health, we have each other, and we have RJ. Now that can be a whole other blog post, but today, it's a good thing. I am Blessed with a capitol "B"!

These words spoke to me back in 2007, and they speak to me now.
Yes, I am changing on a daily basis. But I'm changing for the better!

It's time to have a great day!

Here's a link to the other pics that were taken on Easter. I really like the ones of Beth!

Birds! Not the Alfred Hitchcock movie!

Hey Guys!

Just a few more pics from this week. At my work, we are surrounded by a numerous amount of trees. Since our campus is pretty much deserted, except for us, it is a very private and quiet place. So, the wildlife around there think it is their private sanctuary from the public at large.

Anyway, we have been invaded by Cedar Waxwings. I have been amazed at the speed, and agility of these small birds. What I have truly enjoyed is watching these birds sit on the very end of a tree limb, and ride the wind. Just sitting there bouncing in the breeze! WOW!!!! It is amazing.

It seems we have probably over 100-200 of these birds at any one time. Here's an interesting fact, a group of waxwings are collectively known as an "ear-full" and a "museum" of waxwings. So, here's a few pics of the "Ear-full"that I took this week!

Every time I witnessed this ritual, my thoughts raced to what it would be like to do just that. Ride, ever so lightly on a tree limb. Now I know that will never happen, but as I have lost my weight, I get closer each and every day! So, if you ride by Belmont Blvd in Nashville, and see someone in a tree...take solace in knowing it's just me, riding in the breeze!

As a side note, here's my newest bird feeder! For those that are curious, my brother-in-law, gave this feeder to my wife several years ago at Christmas. Well, this last year, the wine bottle broke. We were all ready to throw it out, and I got a great idea. I substituted an empty Da Vinci Sugar Free Peanut Butter syrup bottle, and Viola! A diet friendly bird feeder!
Have a nice day!

There's a bright golden haze on the meadow...

There's a bright golden haze on the meadow,
The corn is as high as an elephant's eye,
An' it looks like it's climbin' clear up to the sky.

Oh, what a beautiful mornin',
Oh, what a beautiful day.
I got a beautiful feelin'
Ev'rything's goin' my way.

That's the opening stanza to the song Oklahoma! Now, I didn't see any elephants, nor corn. Come to think of it, I didn't see a bright golden haze on the meadow. But I did see a beautiful day, starting with a beautiful sunrise!

"Sunrise at the Depot"

Yesterday was all about me and nothing else. My wife had to house sit again for her parents. When this happens, we usually take turns spending time with RJ. Well, the last several times this has happened, I have ended up spending the whole weekend with RJ. Now, before you hit me with an attitude, spending time with my son is not a bad thing. He is a great kid and we have some fun and fantastic times together. But, and let me say, it's a big "BUT", he can really turn on the pre-teen angst and behavior at a moments notice!

So, RJ spent the weekend with Beth at her parents house, and I got to go take pictures, and boy did I take 'em!

"Nashville Skyline"

I started out with the idea of going to Radnor Lake, but got sidetracked when I saw the skyline of Nashville all lit up with the morning sun! I just could not resist getting out and walking. According to my trusty pedometer, I put in 3 miles downtown before I stopped. All I can say was it was "magical"!

"Antique Mall"

So, at this point I started home, but got sidetracked once again! This time, it was Shelby Bottoms that grabbed my attention. Oh, and I am glad I went. A good friend of mine, Warbler Ed , is one of the best bird photographers I know, and when I grow up, I want to be just like him! I have a long way to go, just click on his name and check out his pictures to see what I mean! He and his wife Rachel are working on their "Life List" of birds. Now, I am not keeping a life list, but I think I got a pretty good start yesterday!

"Red Bellied Woodpecker"

"Female Cardinal"

"Great Blue Heron"

"Tree Swallow"

Anyway, it was a phenomenal day and I really enjoyed it, cause for the first time in a long time, it was about.....

ME, ME, ME, ME, ME, ME, ME, !!!!!
Have a great day!

Nashville Walk From Obesity~ Update!

Well, it's been a week since I last blogged, and I guess that's the norm around here! This last week has been just like the week before, and the one before that! I guess even the one before that to!

I have been extremely busy with a project for the Nashville Walk From Obesity. The Chairperson for this last years event asked me to be the official photographer for the event, and since I love my hobby, I agreed! Well, she then asked me if I would put together a video slide show of the pics. Once again I agreed!

One day I will learn to say no! Do ya think? When it comes to friends, I can never say no. But maybe one day. Anyway, the above video is the finished project. Feel free to watch if you would like, I will tell you though, it is 9 minutes long!

Have a great day!
